There are some ways to download a video that you watched in youtube and save it in your HDD for playback and sharing with "offline" friends.

Way No1 ) Visit the website http://www.kissyoutube.com/ and follow the provided instructions.

Way No2 ) Each video played on youtube has a unique video id.
i.e : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF9k110jxyc
in the above link , the video unique id is uF9k110jxyc
Open a browser and give the following link :
http://cache.googlevideo.com/get_video?video_id=uF9k110jxyc
This link talks directly with google cache directory …..
A popup will appear prompting you to save the video.
Give a name to the Video you want to download (popup appears a default video name like "Get Video".
It is mandatory as well to define the extension of your Video as .flv (Flash Video).

Since you store your flv video in you HDD , you need to convert the video in
"playable" format .
I used the Free FLV Converter which is small , resources-free software.
The result of this software is an AVI file , able to be played my Windows Media Player.
